My incredibly heavy squat day
Box Squats:135x5, 225x5, 315x5, 405x5
Put on my briefs
495x2 (7 sets) On the 2nd and 3rd set I honestly couldn't get down. I would just get stuck.
545x2 (1 set) Super freakin easy
Rack Pulls: Worked up to 500 for a double
High Pulls:225x5 (3 sets)
Pullthroughs: Stackx12 (3 sets)
HEAVY ABS: 5 sets of 12 reps
A good workout back from the deload week. I really need to work my squat gear before the meet because I gotta get my butt down to the ground (darn USPF rules!) but I'm more than confident that I'll be in good shape. I had planned on 545 being my opener given I missed it at nationals, but, I'm so much stronger now than i was at nationals I may open up with 585-600 somewhere in there depending on how much pop I get out of both my TRX and my groove briefs. Who knows, by the WPF worlds this year, I could be squatting 700 and dare I say, I may hit the big Anti Gravity weight of 800! My goals, lofty, but reasonable.
A little about me
I have competed in both Olympic Weightlifting and Bench-Only Lifting. I competed in Olympic Lifting as a kid. Best lifts of 255 Olympic Press, 225 Snatch, 255 Clean & Jerk. I met many of the great lifters and coaches from the 60's and 70's. After a 20-year break to serve my country I started lifting regularly again and competing in Bench-Only. Best Lift: 419lbs "equipped".
Feel free to follow along on the adventure...
