The most ridiculously heavy bench day of my life....well maybe...
Bench: Barx10, 135x5, 225x3, 315x1, 405x1 (Threw on scooped neck Rage-X)
1-Board: 455x2, 495x1 (5 times)
Floor Press: 135x10, 225x10, 315x5, 365x5, 385x2
Rack Lockouts: 315x10, 405x10, 495x3, 525x2
Skull Crushers: 135x10 (3 sets)
Rear Delt Machine Thingy: 5 sets of 8
Seated Rows: 3 sets of 12
Very happy about this session. The scoop neck really takes a lot of the weight when you reach the chest plate. 495 didn't really feel mega bad and I think I'm going to go for it on my 3rd attempt (485-501ish is the goal but if I dont get it at this meet I will at either the san diego meet or at nationals). Plan is to still open with around 430ish but it really depends on how I feel the day of the meet. Steve, great stuff about the Katana. The biggest problem you have with the Katana is one lack of training in it and two, lack of faith in it given your previous problems with Katana's. Next meet (maybe you should do the San Diego meet) work exclusively in the Katana.
3/4/09
Box Squats: 135x5, 225x5, 315x3, 405x3, (Put on Briefs)
495x2, (Threw on suit) 585x2, 635x1, 675x1, 700x1, 725x0 (Stalled right in the middle)
Seated Good Mornings (These things are freaking awesome!!!!): 135x5, 225x5, 275x5, 315x5, 365x5, 405x5
Rack Pulls (Bar about 6 inches below my knees: 315x3, 405x3, 495x3, 545x1, 565x1
Dumbbell Rows: 125x15 (2 sets each arm)
Side bends and weighted situps
Feeling fairly solid right now, very strong and feeling very thick. The muscles in my back are really getting strong and I'm feeling very strong as a result. My grip is right where it needs to be and I think at this point I'm alright with it. I really want to pull 600+ at nationals so I dont think at the State Meet I'm going to go freakishly heavy maybe around 545ish? I dunno, but I feel great. A 1600 total would be OK at this meet but I plan on totalling 2000 in the not too distant future hopefully!
A little about me
I have competed in both Olympic Weightlifting and Bench-Only Lifting. I competed in Olympic Lifting as a kid. Best lifts of 255 Olympic Press, 225 Snatch, 255 Clean & Jerk. I met many of the great lifters and coaches from the 60's and 70's. After a 20-year break to serve my country I started lifting regularly again and competing in Bench-Only. Best Lift: 419lbs "equipped".
Feel free to follow along on the adventure...

Yeah, but but but the F-6 is workin so good! I likes me the f-6! The Katana is bad juju fo Steve. Fo now.
For the love of God man, please talk like da white man u be yo!
I know the F-6 is working well, but I really think that it would be in your best interest to really learn the Katana after this meet. I just feel you'll reach 400+ far quicker in the Katana than in the F-6.
There have been some 800Lb+ benches with the F-6. But I do plan on using a Katana in the near future.
While its true that there have been some 800+ benches in an F-6, there have been many 800+ benches in the Katana. Its something to think about. But hey whatever works for you. I'm currently wanting a super katana myself, I'll be wearing one by nationals I know that!
